Arthur Virtual Archive

Abstract
The Arthur Virtual Archive began in January 2009 as a project designed and implemented by Dwayne Collins as part of the Information Professional Practicum course at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto. The goal of the project was to make an important part of Trent University's historical record more readily accessible to the community and to help preserve the copies of Arthur located in the Archives by reducing the amount of physical handling those documents receive. Throughout the winter semester of the 2008-09 academic year, digital images of each Arthur page were taken, processed, and prepared to be placed online. In April 2009, the Virtual Archive went "live" and became available for use by the public. \n\nContent continued to be added on a voluntary basis after the completion of the project until Volume 20. In 2013, Stephen Stohn, one of the founders of Arthur, made a generous donation that allowed for the project to resume where it left off. Originally a stand alone website, the Arthur Virtual Archive was integrated into Trent University Library & Archives' Digital Collections in 2016.\n\nThis Collections has been made possible through support from: Stephen Stohn, Sadleir House, Trent University Library & Archives, University of Toronto Faculty of Information, and Arthur Newspaper.
