Abstract:
With the increase in regional temperatures, there is a real potential for the Central Ontario Region to become a viable region for the production of grapevines (Viits vinifera). This paper examines six climatic variables (minimum daily temperatures, total number frost free days, first occurrence of frost, last occurrence of frost, numbers of days below -23 Celsius, and the yearly amount of heat units from six locations throughout the region (Burkerton McLaughlin, Chatsworth, Delhi, Georgetown, Morrinsburg, and Peterborough, Ontario).
