Discovering the health of the people of Peterborough during the 1830s using the ledgers of Doctor Hutchison
Doctor Hutchison was Peterborough's first resident Doctor which made him an important historical figure. Thus his house has been turned into a museum. His ledgers containing information from 1830-1839 were analyzed to assess what treatments he was giving people, what diseases these treatments were linked to, and their cultural, social and historical significance.
The Greater Peterborough Area community vitality indicator project
The collaborative work undertaken constitutes preliminary research to determine the availability of data and information to successfully carry out a Vital Sign report for the Greater Peterborough Area. In 2009, individuals and organizations in the Peterborough community came together to form a Partnership Council on Immigrant Integration. The purpose of this Council is to help enhance the existing working relationships between the public, private, social service, and the third sector partners in our area in order to foster an integration of immigrants in our community.

Since 2006 the Peterborough City County Health Unit (PCCHU) has been operating a variety of cooking classes to teach new culinary skills and knowledge, and provide meals for citizens. The main purpose of these programs has been to play a small role in a larger scheme, to tackle issues of food insecurity and social exclusion within the area.

The purpose of this project was to conduct a scan of Peterborough's existing community gardens and key supporting organizations. With a clear summary of the histories and roles of each garden or organization the Peterborough Community Garden Network can better understand those groups for whom it is conducting advocacy and support work.
