This research was conducted under the request of the Hope Mill Restoration Committee, Otonabee Conservation Foundation. The reason such research was needed was to find ways to return the Hope Mill to a fully operational site, as well as promoting it as a tourist attraction.

It begins with a description of the pros and cons of traditional bargaining, stressing that the drive to win in such a process tends to lead to aggression. The author goes on to describe several alternative methods of negotiation, focusing on Interest-Based Bargaining, a method of negotiation that encourages open discussion and mutual co-operation based on the development of trust between the negotiation partners.

Monitoring the effects of acid pulse during spring thaw on the water systems of Haliburton Forest

The primary purpose of this project was to measure the extent of acid and polluting pulses during spring thaw in four lakes in the Haliburton Forest, each impacted differently. The secondary purpose of the project was to recommend a monitoring program because by using the collected and analyzed data predictions can be made of the effects of acid pulse on aquatic life and habitat.

Kawartha World Issues Centre speakers bureau project

The KWIC Speakers Bureau is a database of local speakers who have volunteered to share their personal knowledge and experiences with the community - as public speakers, discussion leaders, lecturers, and in many other capacities. This year KWIC's focus is on environmental issues, and the expertise that members of the Peterborough community possess in this area is reflected in the wide variety of issues and subject matters that can be found in the Speakers Bureau. This project includes a User's Manual of how to use the database, an article for KWIC's fall newsletter describing the project and it's benefits to the community, as well as a personal reflection, which focuses on the development and implementation of the project.

Eurasian watermilfoil: profile, control and predicting dispersal patterns of an invasive species in Kawartha Lakes Region

The OFAH has classified the Eurasian watermilfoil, Myriophyllum spicatum, as an aquatic emergent species that requires close attention. The author conducted a comprehensive literature search to gather and synthesize a comprehensive report on Eurasian watermilfoil, discussing the characteristics, control methods, and methods for predicting dispersal patterns.
