Community sustainability indicators among 10 cities: an environmental focus

This report provides a detailed summary of the sustainability indicators established in Canadian and American cities. A summary of each of the ten cities that were studied for this report is included along with a brief description of their indicator program. The cities are organized by population size for this section of the report. This brief summary is meant to outline some of the differences between the types of cities researched for this report, the differences in the number of indicator cities employ, how they report the indicators and where they obtain their data. The ten cities that are included in this report are: Santa Monica, California; Richmond, British Columbia; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Hamilton, Ontario; Portland, Oregon; Boston, Massachusetts; Jacksonville, Florida; Tucson, Arizona; Calgary, Alberta; Edmonton, Alberta.

Abstract:

The Hope Sawmill, in the village of Keene, is currently under renovation to repair damages caused by arson. The renovation of the Mill will return the building to a working museum and preserve the historical heritage of the site.

Once upon a time ... story and rhyme

This is a collection of traditional children's songs, stories and rhymes collected on CD. Items were recorded in Peterborough in 2003. CD case includes words to songs. Supporting documentation lists number of songs and the frequency of being requested. The songs, stories and rhymes were collected over a two year period and tested for frequency of times requested by children.

Teachers' experiences in one room school houses

Abstract:

The primary purpose of this project was to explore the experiences of teachers in one room schoolhouses in order to provide background information for a play to be performed at 4th Line Theatre. The author interviewed several former teachers and researched literature on the subject.
